FT. WORTH, Texas - Candis Kelley of the women's track and field team and men's basketball player Nile Murry have been tagged for the TCU Student-Athlete of the Week awards. The honor is a career first for Kelley, while Murry received his second recognition of the season.
Kelley, a freshman from College Station, Texas, notched her first career gold at the Wes Kittley 6 Way in Lubbock, Texas, last Saturday as she three a 48-01.25 (14.66m) to win the shot put. Her throw is also the best mark in the Mountain West Conference so far this season.
Murry, a senior guard, averaged 20 points per game last week as TCU picked up its first Mountain West Conference win of the season. He led the team in scoring against San Diego State and Colorado State, making it the 12th time he has led the team in total points this year. Murry also combined for a 93.8 shooting percentage (15-of-16) from the free-throw line for the week.
