| TCU midfielder Lauren Pope talks about the women's soccer team. |
| TCU Moderator: Welcome fans, we've got Lauren Pope joining us tonight to talk about TCU soccer. |
| Hannah (Bedford): How do you respond to having not played a game in two weeks? What have you done to keep yourselves game-ready? |
| Lauren Pope: We've been practicing a lot in the last two weeks to keep ourselves in shape. We are ready to play a game, it's been to long.
Yesterday we scrimmaged a local high school team and playing each other. |
| Hayley (Plano): What do you like to do in your free time when you are not playing soccer or studying? |
| Lauren Pope: Obviously, I like to hang out with my friends and play with my dog.
I enjoy outdoor activities, most of all fishing. I don't have a lot of free time with soccer and school work. In the summer time, I work as a camp counselor, which is something that I really enjoy. |
| TCU Fan - Ft. Worth: The TCU women's soccer team played A&M and Pepperdine close this year....what is your team lacking that is needed to beat these type of ranked teams? |
| Lauren Pope: I don't think that we are lacking in anything. It is just a matter of getting to know each other and how each of us play. We need to be able to get organized. It's just a matter of time before we develop a program like A&M and Pepperdine.
I think you could see the growth in our squad from when we played A&M to when we played Pepperdine. We played really well against the Waves and proved we could play with them. |
| Mike Vick (Flowery Branch): Do you kick with your left foot or right or are you amedextrius? Is it called ambedextrius with your feet? |
| Lauren Pope: Everyone kicks with both feet. My right foot is my most dominate foot, but all soccer players use both feet. It's not something we really think about. |
| Gary (Long Beach): Are you guys getting restless about playing with such a long time between games? |
| Lauren Pope: Once again, we've been scrimmaging. We are really looking forward to this weekend. We want to see all that we've done in the last two weeks pay off in two wins for us. |
| Tommy - Henderson, NV: What is coach Dan Abdalla like? |
| Lauren Pope: That can be answered in one word--intense. It's a hard adjustment for some of us to make, but it makes us better. |
| Shawna (Dallas): How do you find time to study? |
| Lauren Pope: Prioritizing is huge when you are a collegiate athlete. With tutors that are provided for us, that gives us a lot of accountability. |
| AR - Fort Worth: Who are the team comedians? |
| Lauren Pope: I would definitely say that two freshmen, Courtney Brill and Caroline Starns are two of the funniest people I know.
Breanne Kaldheim and Moran Lavi are also funny. They really help lighten the mood on the field. |
| Gary - Long Beach: Are you looking forward to playing in conference cities like Las Vegas and San Diego? |
| Lauren Pope: Definitely, I am looking forward to the conference tournament in Las Vegas. The conference has a lot of awesome places and a lot of them, I have never been to, so I am really excited.
Unfortunately we don't get to go to San Diego State this season, but we'll go next year. |
| Frogfaithful: Is there anything specific the team likes to do together when on the road or just hanging out? |
| Lauren Pope: We have had only one overnight trip this season. We do a lot of relaxing. We have team competitions that we really enjoy. We'll find out more this next month when we get into the bulk of our travelling schedule. |
| Allen (Allen, Texas): Your coach is from UNLV. Has that date been circled on your calendars this season as one that he really wants to win? |
| Lauren Pope: That's definitely one that we would like to win and think we can win. It's definitely an advantage for us with Coach coming from there. He knows every team in the conference, which is also to our advantage. I feel we can beat anybody in this league. |
| TCU Fan - Ft. Worth: I couldn't agree more that the team has really come together as the year has progressed. The soccer you and your teammates are playing is very exciting. Good luck in Conference! |
| Lauren Pope: Thanks a bunch, we appreciate all the fan support we've received this season. |
| Tanya (Colorado Springs): What is Dan Abdalla's coaching style like? |
| Lauren Pope: He really stresses the ideas of "playing the feet" and connecting our passes. He is a very possession-oriented coach. He pushes us to push the ball forward and making the defenders defend you. |
| TCU Moderator: Thanks fans, Lauren has to get to her studies. Talk to you next week. |
