NORMAN, Okla. -- The TCU men's golf team is tied for 15th in the first GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll of the 2005-06 season. The Horned Frogs are one of four Mountain West Conference teams ranked in the top 25 in the inaugural rankings.
Defending national champion Georgia claimed 20 first-place votes to claim the top spot. The Bulldogs return four starters from last year's team and is followed by Oklahoma State - who had two first-place tallies - and spent much of last season at No. 1. Fourth-ranked UNLV, No. 12 Tennessee and No. 14 Georgia State each received a first-place vote.
Florida ranked third and is followed by UNLV, Duke and 2005 NCAA runner-up Georgia Tech. BYU checked in at seventh while Wake Forest, Washington and Arizona State fill spots eight through 10.
Southern California is ranked No. 11 and is followed by Tennessee, UCLA and Georgia State. Augusta State and TCU are tied for 15th while Alabama and Clemson share No. 17. Texas and Auburn round out the top 20.
New Mexico occupied No. 21 and Arizona, Minnesota, South Carolina and Louisville complete the top 25.
The GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. The next GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll will be released Oct. 7.
