The TCU Horned Frogs dropped their first match of the George Mason Tournament,3-1, against Cal Poly. Junior Anna Vaughn led the way for the Frogs with 14 kills and five blocks.

The Frogs were also given five points on Mustang serving errors. Outside hitter Kayla Mulder also had four kills for the Mustangs and recorded the final point of the game for the 30-20 victory.
The second match began similar to the first as Cal Poly tallied seven unanswered points to start the match. Junior Agi Nemeth and Vaughn began to assert themselves as they combined for five kills. Adding more points to the TCU tally, Vaughn made one and a half blocks.
Sophomore LeMeita Smith came in to add a little fire power to the Horned Frog offense and they battled to within four, 20-16, prompting Mustang head coach Jon Stevenson to call a timeout. Gilliam rallied the Mustangs after the timeout and they pushed to a 30-23 victory.
TCU captured its first lead of the match in game three with back-to-back service aces by Nemeth. Vaughn continued to lead the Frogs offense as she added five more kills to her box score. The squad moved to a 20-14 lead with back-to-back service aces by Erin Estep and rattled off four more points to go up 24-14. Cal Poly made a spirited run before falling 31-29.
Game four remained even throughout with each team putting together rallies of their own. The Mustangs were able to gain the upper hand late in the game to escape a 30-22 victory and the match.
With the loss, TCU fell to 0-2 on the season. The Frogs will play again at 8 p.m. against George Mason.
