Hi, my name is Stephanie Ann Thiel and I am a senior shooting guard for the 2005-06 TCU women's basketball team. I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I graduated high school from Nazareth, Texas, in 2002. My hometown of Nazareth has a population of 299 and my graduating class was less than 20. Nazareth is rich with tradition in women's basketball. I won three state titles and a Texas Cup title in my four years. Along with playing basketball in high school, I also ran track and cross country.
My family is the most important thing to me. My dad is a rescue pilot for AreoCare in Lubbock and my mom is a fifth grade PE teacher in Plainview. I am the oldest of six children. My family is very involved in sports. Both of my sisters play basketball and my oldest sister Jackie is playing at Central Arizona. My three younger brothers, Adam, Ben and Kyle, all play football.
It is so much fun to be a part of the TCU women's basketball team. We have made many memories and laughed so much in my two years here. The latest fun event for our team is Coach Mittie's Runners Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:30.
The Runners Club was designed by coach Mittie to help each of us make our mile time on Friday morning. There is a great turnout in the mornings for the runs, including the coaching staff and many of the players. Since this is an optional workout, we each choose what we want to run. You can choose to do a cross country run with coach Broughton around campus, sprints with coach Mittie, laps with coach Porter and coach Benton, or you can participate in Coach Tidwell's treadmill trot. It has been a great team building activity!
The 2005-06 TCU women's basketball team is working very hard this year. We are all focused on achieving our individual and team goals in the gym and in the classroom. It is going to be a great season!
