Lubbock, Texas -
The TCU Flyin' Frogs men's and women's track & field teams brought home three first place medals from the Wes Kittley Invitational, held at the Athletic Training Center on the campus of Texas Tech University on Saturday.
The Frogs got winning marks from Kip Kangogo in the mile run (4:06.78), MaKeatha Cooper in the 55-meter hurdles (8.02) and Cassie Hostick in the 1,000-meter run (2:57.79).
"Overall I was pleased with our effort," said first year head coach Darryl Anderson. "I thought we competed better here today than we did two weeks ago. We're moving in the right direction. The highlights on the men's side had to be Kip winning the mile in easy fashion and freshman Bradley Reed performing well in both the 55-meter dash and on our 4x4 relay team. On the women's side, MaKeatha looked strong in winning the hurdles and Cassie ran well to take the 1,000."
Other Frogs turning in top three performances included Bradley Reed in the 55 (2nd-6.26); Otis McDaniel in the 200 (3rd-21.63); Marquita Davis in the 400 (2nd-55.51); Deborah Jones in the 400 (3rd-55.87); Gina Messamer in the 600 yard dash (3rd-1:30.97); Johnathan Bundren in the 1000 (2nd-2:32.50); Jackson Langat in the mile (3rd-4:19.64); Calandra Stewart in the mile (2nd-5:05.22); Halie Bullin in the mile (3rd-5:08.72); Zelma Wade in the shot put (2nd-12.99m); the men's 4x400 meter relay team (2nd-3:10.44); and the women's 4x400 meter relay unit (2nd-3:46.63).
The Frogs return to the track next weekend when they travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take part in the Razorback Invitational, February 11 and 12.
