ABOUT THE GAME
Before finishing off regular season Conference USA play, the TCU Lady Frogs (19-8, 10-3 C-USA) host former NCAA Division II power North Dakota State (24-0) Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. CST in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. NDSU is in its first season as a Division I school. The undefeated Bison registered a notable victory over a Division I school earlier in the year, defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats on UC's home floor by a 75-67 score. Although TCU and North Dakota State have no history with each other, Lady Frog head coach Jeff Mittie is familiar with the Bison and head coach Amy Ruley. Mittie was defeated by Ruley's club in the 1994 NCAA Division II Tournament's Elite Eight and the 1995 Final Four while serving as the skipper of his alma mater, Missouri Western. NDSU ended up winning the national championship in each of those years and has won three others (1991, 1993, 1996). Missouri Western was Mittie's first head coaching job, and he left the school for Arkansas State having forged a 76-17 (.817) record in three seasons. Ruley, who is in her 26th year with the Bison, owns a career mark of 629-158 (.799).
TCU'S LAST TIME OUT
The TCU Lady Frogs secured a first-round bye in the Conference USA Tournament by defeating the East Carolina Pirates by a 66-41 score Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas. Sandora Irvin was the game's high scorer with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and a 5-for-5 effort from the free-throw line. She also pulled down nine rebounds, assisted on four baskets, blocked three shots and came up with four steals while committing no turnovers in 26 minutes of action. Vanessa Clementino was TCU's other double digit scorer with 11 off the bench.
NORTH DAKOTA STATE'S LAST TIME OUT
The North Dakota State Bison moved to 24-0 Saturday, Feb. 19, with a 78-42 pounding of Upper Iowa in Fargo, N.D. Katie Lorenz was one of three NDSU players to reach double figures, scoring a team-high 14 points. Lacey Johnson and Leah Klabo had 13 apiece. Johnson also had eight rebounds to lead her squad and she dished out five assists. Christa Hammel led Upper Iowa with 16 points. North Dakota State shot just under 50 percent for the game, going 32-for-65 (.492), while Upper Iowa made 16-of-48 (.333) from the field. The Bison had only nine turnovers and forced 22, which allowed them an 18-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
