ABOUT THE GAME
The TCU Lady Frogs (18-8, 9-3 C-USA) look to improve on their 10-1 home record Sunday when they host the East Carolina Pirates (10-15, 6-6 C-USA) in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum at 2 p.m. CST. By knocking off Charlotte Friday, TCU kept its slim hopes of grabbing a share of the Conference USA regular-season championship alive. If DePaul wins at Memphis Sunday, the Blue Demons will win the title outright. The Lady Frogs have a 4-0 all-time record against the Pirates. Last season, TCU won in quadruple overtime at ECU, 125-119.
TCU'S LAST TIME OUT
The TCU Lady Frogs snapped their two-game skid Friday with a 76-51 pounding of the Charlotte 49ers. Lorie Butler-Rayford led the way for TCU with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She also dished out four assists, had one steal and committed no turnovers. JimAnne Baker came off the bench to tally 13 points, tying a career-high she set earlier in February versus Saint Louis.
EAST CAROLINA'S LAST TIME OUT
ECU lost by a 74-52 count at Houston Friday in a game that was televised by FOX Sports Southwest. Rebounding was the key difference in the contest, as Houston had a 44-31 advantage on the boards and a 23-13 upper hand on the offensive glass. Second chance points favored the Lady Cougars 28-8. Jennifer Jackson led the Pirates in scoring with 17 points and a team-high nine boards. Shanita Sutton also reached double figures in scoring with 12.
THE C-USA RACE
DePaul clinched at least a share of the Conference USA regular-season championship by winning at Saint Louis Friday. The victory also gave the Blue Demons the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament. DePaul can win the title outright if it triumphs at Memphis Sunday. Its only remainig game after Memphis is home Feb. 27 against Marquette. TCU and Louisville are all tied for second with records of 9-3. Louisville has the tiebreaker since it defeated TCU earlier this season. The Cardinals' last two games are all at home versus Tulane (Feb. 20) and Cincinnati (Feb. 25). Should TCU defeat East Carolina Sunday, it will have one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye for the C-USA Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
LATEST BRACKETOLOGY
Charlie Creme made his latest predictions for this year's NCAA Championship field Feb. 17 on ESPN.com. Creme picked the Lady Frogs as a No. 8 seed and placed them in Knoxville, Tenn., for the first and second rounds. TCU would face No. 9 seed Iowa in the first round. If TCU advanced it would face the winner of No. 1 Tennessee and No. 16 Dartmouth. DePaul was the highest seeded team from Conference USA at No. 7. The Blue Demons would face No. 10 Richmond in Minneapolis and if they won next up would be No. 2 Michigan State or No. 15 Holy Cross. Louisville was the only other C-USA team included as a No. 11 seed going against No. 6 Texas in Dallas. A first-round victory would find the Cardinals playing either No. 3 Georgia or No. 14 Eastern Kentucky.
