The Horned Frogs' opponent, to be announced at a later date, will come from the Big 12 Conference.
Fifteenth-ranked TCU (10-1, 8-0) will play in its seventh bowl game over the last eight seasons. It will be the Frogs' second appearance in the Houston Bowl. In 2001, when it was known as the galleryfurniture.com Bowl, TCU faced Texas A&M in the Astrodome.
"We are excited to participate in the EV1.net Houston Bowl," TCU athletics director Danny Morrison said.
"The Bowl provides us with a quality opponent in an outstanding facility and city. We look forward to having a great crowd of TCU fans there to cheer on the Horned Frogs."
Reliant Stadium is the home of the National Football League's Houston Texans and was the site of Super Bowl XXXIII between the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers.
The Frogs, appearing in a bowl for the 21st time in their history, have reached 10 wins for the fourth time in the last six campaigns. TCU has won nine in a row for the third-longest current winning streak in the nation, behind only USC (33) and Texas (17).
Gary Patterson is the first coach in Frog history to record three 10-victory seasons.
"We're excited to be going to our seventh bowl game in the last eight years and to show what type of program we have at TCU," Patterson said. "We wanted to get into a game that was the best fit for us and go somewhere where the kids could have a lot of fun."
Ticket information for the EV1.net Houston Bowl is available on the Frogs' web site (www.gofrogs.com) or by calling (817) 257-FROG. All tickets purchased through TCU, in support of the Frogs, are $57.
Frog Club members will have first priority in seat location, followed by season-ticket holders, TCU faculty/staff and students and the general public.
A complete schedule of bowl activities will be announced later.
