FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU head men's golf coach Bill Montigel has received a National Letter of Intent from local product Travis Woolf, the school announced today. The Fort Worth native will join the Horned Frog golf team in the fall of 2006.
A Future World Collegians Tour (FWCT) All-American, Woolf has enjoyed an impressive year in 2005. He started by placing second at the FWCT La Cantera Junior Golf Classic in January. The following month, Woolf won the FWCT Bear Creek Junior Golf Challenge and then had a sixth-place finish at the FWCT Bayonet Junior Golf Invitational in March. In addition, the 17-year-old placed 24th at the Golfweek Junior Invitational in October and finished 29th at the Texas State Boys Championship in August.
Woolf currently stars for Trampas Wilson at Paschal High School after transferring from Arlington High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Vice President of the Key Club while at Arlington High.
"Travis is a very good student-athlete who has a really nice golf swing," Montigel said. "If he continues to work hard on his game, he will have a chance to really help us in the future. We're excited that he decided to become a Horned Frog."
