With the San Diego Chargers having a bye weekend, Tomlinson was able to return to his alma mater as part of "LT Day." During a halftime ceremony, his TCU jersey No. 5 was honored. No other player will wear that number without Tomlinson's permission.
Many of Tomlinson's former teammates joined him on the field for the halftime festivities that also included a highlight video of his Frog career.
As a senior, Tomlinson captured the 2000 Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back. He placed fourth in voting for the Heisman Trophy that year.
Tomlinson topped the nation in rushing his final two seasons. He had 1,850 yards in 1999 and 2,158 in 2000. As a junior, Tomlinson ran for an NCAA single-game record 406 yards in a 47-14 victory over UTEP. He totaled 5,263 career yards and 54 rushing touchdowns.
Tomlinson saw the Frogs play for the second time in three weeks. He was on the sideline, wearing a TCU sweatshirt, when TCU defeated San Diego State Oct. 29 at Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers had a home game the next day versus Kansas City.
