FORT WORTH, Texas -- Cross country standout Kip Kangogo and volleyball's Anna Vaughn are TCU's September Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month, while football's Chad Andrus and women's soccer's Bara Gunnarsdottir are the Horned Frogs' Scholar-Athletes of the Month.Kangogo was the top performer at both of TCU's September meets. He teamed with Steven Solazzo to place first at the Baylor Bear Relays (Sept. 2), officially giving the Horned Frogs the team victory at the season-opening meet.
A senior from Kabarnet, Kenya, Kangogo then won the 4-mile race at the UTA Invitational (Sept. 10) with a time of 19:22. He was 1:17 faster than teammate and runner-up Jackson Langat.
Vaughn led the TCU volleyball team to a 10-5 record on the month. A native of Grapevine, Texas, Vaughn topped the Frogs with 222 kills, a .337 hitting percentage, 33 service aces and 62 total blocks. She's in her junior season.
To be eligible for the Horned Frogs' Scholar-Athlete of the Month, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.2 grade-point average.
Andrus had five receptions for 41 yards as TCU's tight end in four September games. He had three catches in the season-opening 17-10 win at Oklahoma. The junior from Keller, Texas, returned to action this season after receiving a medical redshirt in 2004 when injuries limited him to just three contests.
Gunnarsdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) has played a key role for the Frogs with her versatility, energy and competitiveness at the midfield position. Her work ethic raises the level of play of her teammates.
