Freshman setter talks volleyball.
TCU Moderator: Good evening everyone. We are going to start tonight's online chat with Nirelle Hampton 10 minutes early.
Mikey Jackson (Dallas, Texas): How does it feel to come in to TCU and be so successful so early...I mean you already have a triple double and have been your conferences Player of the Week.
Hampton: It is nice to be able to contribute to the team right off the bat. I only want to get better and help my team even more.
James, Fort Worth: How does the team feel about the big win last night? What are your expectations for this weekend?
Hampton: The win brought a lot of conference to the team for this weekend. It was a really exciting win. We want to play hard and with the amount of confidence we have built over these last three matches, we should have some good results.
James, Kansas City: Is it hard for you to have your sister for a coach?
Hampton: Not at all, it is nice to have her here to push me even more. Once we step on the court, she is my coach, not my sister so it does not make a difference in that aspect. Off the court, it is great to have a family member so close by because all of the rest is in Gainesville.
Sara, New York: What do the volleyball girls do with their free time?
Hampton: With the small amount of free time that we do have, we hang out with one another. EAT. And, just listen to music, watch television and talk to my family on the phone. This is all in between studying.
Debbie (Galveston): Were you a Gator fan growing up?
Hampton: Of course, I was a diehard Gator fan. I still am and I always will be.
Joan (Dallas): Did you play any positions other than setter in high school?
Hampton: There was a time in high school that I played outside-hitter, I even played libero a time or two. I have played everything but middle blocker at some point in my volleyball career.
Jill (Galveston): Who's the best team you've played this year?
Hampton: BYU was probably the best all-around team.
Carrie (Fort Worth): Was last night's match the most exciting one you've played since you've been at TCU?
Hampton: Last night was the most exciting win, but Denver was the most intense match however. We won a five-game match on the road in front of a large crowd.
Dawn (Arlington): Who are your best friends on the team?
Hampton: Our team is very close overall. Erin Estep has been very close with me, she comes to eat with all the freshmen and we laugh together.
Geri (Burleson): What type of music do you listen to and what are your favorite TV shows?
Hampton: I listen to any type of music, besides hardcore country. My favorite TV shows are CSI and ER.
Joe (Dallas): Whats it like having MArcie Hampton as a sister...I hear she is really good
Hampton: I love having Marcie as my sister because she is my sister. She is a good role model, I look up to her and she is my best friend ever.
Kim from Dallas: Which players do you think bring intensity to the court?
Hampton: I think Talaya brings a lot of intensity to the court because she is a really strong competitor and the same for Anna. Everyone on the team brings intensity to the floor.
Mrs.Williams(Gainesville): How does it feel to be Conference player of the week? We are so proud of you!! Thanks for letting us borrow your jersey!
Hampton: No problem on the jersey. I hear the team is doing well in Gainesville. It was really an honor to earn conference player of the week. Good luck in the postseason and thanks for the support.
TCU Moderator: We would like to thank everyone for submitting questions tonight. Be sure to tune in next week for another online chat.
