Hey, ya'll! My name is Jenna Lohse and I am currently a redshirt sophomore. My favorite colors are pink and lavender purple, I love to shop, watch movies, get my hair done, get pedicures and manicures, meet new people, laugh and smile, be dramatic, do random things and hang out with all of my friends. I believe that everything happens for a reason and to always have a positive attitude in what you do everyday. As Norman Vincent Peale stated, "Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure." I absolutely with all my heart believe in this quote. The most important thing to me is my family. I believe that family comes before anything because like the books always say, your family will always be there for you no matter what. I was born in Evansville, Ind., and moved to North Richland Hills, Texas, when I was in second grade. My father and mother are still happily married and they now reside in Haslet, Texas. When I graduated, my parents moved from North Richland Hills and built a small farm and now are raising my new chocolate lab puppy Frito, MY dog Smudge, a cat, and I believe five chickens. It is funny to go home to that because we have never had that many animals before.
My family means so much to me because they have always backed me up in every decision and has always taught me to work hard for what I get. I see my parents doing that everyday. My mother is a fourth grade teacher at Chisholm Trail Elementary in Saginaw, and my father works for Archer Western Contractors and has a very interesting job that is very difficult for me to explain.
I have a wonderful brother (at times) who definitely had an impact on my basketball career. He used to kick my butt EVERYTIME on our driveway outside and taught me to really love and appreciate the game. We haven't played since I got to college, so Jacob, I am ready for a rematch anytime.
The rest of my family lives in California and Indiana, and I rarely get to see them, but they also are my number one fans and support me in anyway they can. If I am near them at any point on the road, I know they will be there no matter what, screaming their heads off for me.
I am very excited about the new conference this year because my family in California will get to attend exactly three games, and let me tell you I am lucky if I get to see them once a year, so seeing them three times is going to be incredible and I can hardly wait. Since we won't be traveling up north I pray that my family from Indiana will get the opportunity to travel to Texas because I miss them so much!
I think this season will be so exciting and so much fun. We have worked so hard this preseason and have made huge strides. The great thing about our preseason is that everyone worked hard, not just for themselves, but for the team. Everyday, I look at our team and think to myself that this is going to be a great season because we have the heart and desire to win and be the best. I am also so pumped about traveling to all the beautiful places with all of my teammates.
Now, if we can just get through these few weeks of practice then everything will be great!
