FORT WORTH, Texas - Continuing to gain experience and prepare for the spring season, the TCU men's tennis team will play in the Midland Invite this weekend in Midland, Texas. Senior's Rafael Abreu and Jacopo Tezza will compete in doubles competition and both will also play singles.
"This is a great tournament with great opponents," states TCU head coach Joey Rive. "We will have an excellent opportunity to prepare for regionals and I am looking for some good results."
Baylor, Pepperdine, SMU, Texas and Texas A&M are just some of the teams that will be featured in the invite. Baylor, Pepperdine and A&M were all participants in the NCAA Championships a season ago.
The tandem of Abreu and Tezza is ranked 35th in the country and played a tough match against the No. 2 doubles team in the country of Scott Green and Ross Wilson from The Ohio State University.
"(Rafael) Abreu took his game to another level so far this season," said Rive. "He has defeated some good opponents."
Abreu has faced Florida State's Sam Chang and Tezza has hit the courts with Georgia Tech's No. 1 David North.
The Midland Invite is the final tuneup for the Frogs before they head to the ITA Regionals next weekend.
