
Former TCU Football Player Receives a Rose

Former TCU football player Jason Illian was one of 15 eligible bachelors to receive a rose from Jennifer Schefft in the first episode of "The Bachelorette" aired Monday night on ABC-TV.
Illian, 29, is currently a motivational speaker who makes his home in Fort Worth. While at TCU, Illian was a four-year letterman from 1995-1998, playing wide receiver, linebacker and tight end. On the field, he had four receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown as a senior. Off the field, he carried a 3.945 grade-point average as an international finance major with a minor in Japanese. He was a second-team GTE CoSIDA Academic All-American and was a 1998 Burger King College Football Scholarship Award winner. He was the team captain of the 1998 Sun Bowl-winning Horned Frog squad and a Chancellor's Award winner.
In addition, Illian was listed in Who's Who among Colleges and Universities, was a Honda Scholar-Athlete of the Week, a first team academic All-WAC selection and on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Golden Key National Honor societies, and was a Rhodes Scholar nominee. He was also a member of the TCU Leadership Council, voted TCU's Top Male Athlete, was the 1998 Homecoming King, the president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a member of the BUX Christian fraternity, and served as a volunteer for the "Reading is Fun" program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Cooks Childrens Hospital. The second episode of "The Bachelorette" will be televised on Monday, January 17 at 8 p.m. Central time.
