
Three Horned Frogs Named ITA Scholar Athletes

Fort Worth, Texas - Three members of the TCU women's tennis team have been named to the ITA All-Academic team. Paige Brown, Gloriann Lopez and Saber Pierce were each recognized among the 416 Division I women honorees. All three were also members of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and received the Academic Medal for carrying a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. In order to be recognized on the ITA All-Academic team, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) during the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. Pierce, a senior on last year's squad, finished the season with a 25-7 record in singles and a 21-8 record in doubles and she was a second team all-Conference USA selection. At the 2004 C-USA Championship, Pierce teamed with Ana Cetnik to form the Outstanding Doubles Team of the Championship and finished the year ranked 31st in the nation. Brown, a junior transfer from the University of Kansas, finished the year with records of 8-13 in singles and 14-15 in doubles, while sophomore Gloriann Lopez compiled13-9 and 11-6 records. The duo also paired up in doubles competition and finished the year with a 10-5 mark. The Horned Frogs made their first NCAA appearance under Head Coach Dave Borelli and the seventh in the program's history. The squad finished the season ranked No. 28 by the ITA.
