TCU Posts 12-Over 292 in Second Round

HOT SPRINGS, Va. - In the second round of the NCAA Championship, TCU carded a 12-over-par 292 at the Homestead's Cascades Course (6,679 yards, par 70). The Horned Frogs, rated 10th in the nation, will now wait for the afternoon groups to finish to learn their Thursday tee time and two-round standing.
Junior David Schultz led the way for TCU with a one-over 71. He made a tap-in birdie on No. 14 after knocking his approach on the par-4 hole within three feet of the pin. After an opening-round 74, Schultz is five-over-par for the tournament (145).
Fellow junior J.J. Killeen bounced back from his first-round 75 to score a two-over 72. After taking a bogey on No. 1, he saved par with a 12-foot putt on No. 2 to get him on the right track. Killeen stayed between even-par and two-over for the entire 18 holes. He has a two-day score of 147.
Sophomore Colby Beckstrom finished with a flurry to post a three-over 73. Beckstrom was six-over with four holes to play before stringing together three straight birdies. He got his roll started after his tee shot on the 229-yard, par-3 15th stuck within three feet. He then grabbed birdies on the back-to-back par-5s (Nos. 16 and 17), and got up-and-down for a par on the last hole. He joins Schultz with a five-over 145 through 36 holes.
Adam Meyer, who netted a stout four-under 66 on Tuesday, squeezed out a 76 in round two. Meyer had a pair of double-bogeys in the round, including one on the 18th after his tee shot on the par-3 finishing hole landed in the water. The native of China Spring, Texas, still owns a team-best two-day sum of 142.
Senior Stephen Polanski had a 78 (+8) on Tuesday morning after a 69 yesterday afternoon. Polanski continued his solid play until a triple-bogey on the 12th moved him from plus-three to plus-six. For the tournament, Polanski and Killeen are tied at 147 (+7)
The 72-hole event will continue on Thursday with the third round. Live hole-by-hole scoring will again be available on www.golfstat.com. The field will be cut to the top 15 teams and lowest six individuals following 54 holes.
