
Schobel Taken By Tennessee In Fourth Round

TCU defensive end Bo Schobel was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Sunday. Schobel was the 103rd player selected overall. He becomes the 10th Horned Frog to be taken in the NFL draft in the last four years and the third member of the Schobel family selected in that time.
Aaron Schobel was selected by the Buffalo Bills with the 15th pick in the second round o fthe 2001 draft, the 46th pick overall. Aaron's brother, Matt, was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the second pick in the third round of the 2002 draft, the 67th pick overall. Aaron, a defensive end, and Matt, a tight end, are Bo's cousins. All three are from Columbus, Texas and played collegiately at TCU.
Bo Schobel, was a second team AP All-American defensive end who earned first team all-conference honors according to both the league's coaches and media and collegefootballnews.com in 2003. He was named the Conference USA Player of the Year by The Sporting News. Schobel was one of six finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the nation's top defensive end, and was one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award, given to the nation's top lineman. The 6-5, 267-pounder led C-USA in sacks and in tackles for loss, figuring in on a school record 17.0 sacks and on 27 TFLs. He was ranked in the top three in the nation in sacks and in the top 10 in tackles for loss He recorded 61 tackles as a senior, including 40 solo stops, forced three fumbles and recovered two. His 101 yards in sacks is a single season school record, while his 120 yards in tackles for losses is tied for first on the TCU charts. He logged a season-high 13 tackles in the win over Navy and also had double-figure tackles against SMU with 10. Schobel was the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week at USF after recording three sacks in that contest. He recorded 28.5 career sacks, second on the TCU all-time list behind Aaron Schobel's 31.0, while making 27 career starts.
