FROGS PREPARE FOR FINAL ROAD GAME: The TCU Horned Frogs (4-4, 2-3 C-USA) wrap up the road portion of their 2004 regular season schedule when they travel to Kentucky to face the nationally-ranked Louisville Cardinals (6-1, 4-0 C-USA) in a 7:38 p.m. ET (6:38 p.m. CT) contest on Wednesday, November 10. The Frogs' final two games of the regular season will be at home as they take on Southern Miss on Saturday, November 20 and Tulane on Saturday, November 27.
WHAT'S TRANSPIRED: TCU opened the season with a pair of wins over Northwestern and SMU and finished the non-conference portion of their season with a 2-1 record. They are locked in a three-way tie for sixth place in Conference USA with a 2-3 record, posting wins at Army and versus Houston, while dropping a double overtime decision to USF and falling at UAB and at Cincinnati. Louisville is 6-1 on the season and sitting atop the conference with a 4-0 league mark. The 12th-ranked Cardinals lone loss came at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes in Miami.
TCU-LOUISVILLE SERIES: This is the fourth meeting between the two schools with the Frogs winning each of the first three decisions. The Frogs won in Fort Worth in 2001 over the 17th-ranked Cardinals by a 37-22 margin, then won the rematch in 2002 in Louisville by a 45-31 score. The Frogs made it three straight with a 31-28 victory in Fort Worth last November. Next season TCU will be in the Mountain West Conference while Louisville will move to the Big East Conference.
BOWL HOPES: The Frogs (4-4) are still in the hunt for a bowl bid, but have their work cut out for them. TCU needs to win two of its last three games to become bowl eligible for the seventh straight season. The Frogs remaining games are at #12 Louisville (5-1), at home versus Southern Miss (5-2) and at home against Tulane (3-5).
FACING A RANKED OPPONENT: TCU dropped its last game against a ranked opponent, falling to #18 Boise State in the 2003 PlainsCapital Fort Worth Bowl, 34-31. Since 1998, the Frogs are 4-3 against ranked foes, defeating #23 Air Force (1998), #20 East Carolina (1999), #17 Louisville (2001) and #23 Colorado State (2002) and falling to #15 Arizona (1999), #4 Nebraska (2001) and #18 Boise State (2003).
REMEMBER THE MISSISSIPPI: The TCU football team should take a good look as they cross the Mississippi River for this game at Louisville. With the move to the Mountain West Conference, the Frogs are not scheduled to play another game east of the Mississippi until they travel to Army on September 9, 2006.
