
Kinyanjui, Keitany Named to C-USA All-Decade Team

TCU cross country standouts Mary Kinyanjui and Glady's Keitany are among the 10-person squad named to the Conference USA Women's Cross Country All-Decade team, the conference office announced today.
Conference USA is celebrating its 10th anniversary during the 2004-05 season. In conjunction, the league is naming a Team of the Decade for each of the conference's 19 sports. Women's Cross Country is the second sport to have its All-Decade team released and Tulane's Hanne Lyngstad headlines that group after being named the Athlete of the Decade for Women's Cross Country. The Women's Cross Country Coach of the Decade award went to Marquette's Dave Uhrich. Voting on the All-Decade awards was done by each of the league's current Women's Cross Country coaches.
Six-time Conference USA champion Marquette placed a league-high three members on the All-Decade team. TCU earned two spots on the 10-person team, with Charlotte, Cincinnati, DePaul, Louisville and Tulane each placing one athlete on the squad.
C-USA WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ALL-DECADE TEAM
Hanne Lyngstad, Tulane (1998-2000) - ATHLETE OF THE DECADE
The only two-time champion in Conference USA Cross Country history, winning the league title in 1998 and 1999. An All-American in 1999 with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships - the next best finish by a C-USA runner at Nationals is 30th. Posted the best time in league championship history (5K) at 16:43.2 in 1999. Also added a third-place finish in the 2000 league championship for her third all-conference selection.
Molly Kerin, Charlotte (1995)
Kerin won the 1995 C-USA Individual Championship to become the first-ever women's C-USA champion ... 1995 C-USA Cross Country Athlete of the Year ... Finished 18th that year at the NCAA Championships to earn her second consecutive All-American award ... Highest finish by any C-USA runner, male or female, at NCAA Nationals ... first two-time All-American for Charlotte ... Set school record with a time of 17:15 (5k) in the North Carolina Collegiate Championships ... Finished her career with ten of the top 20 times in 49ers history.
Angie Kist, Cincinnati (1998-2001)
Kist became the first female to earn All-C-USA honors for four consecutive seasons when she finished 12th in the 2001 meet...Kist placed seventh in 1998, earning C-USA Freshman of the Year honors...She was named team MVP for the 1998 season...Kist finished third in 1999 and seventh in 2000 at the C-USA meet...Kist posted 10 top-five finishes in her career, including two individual championships...Kist was named C-USA athlete of the week twice.
Erin Moffett - DePaul (2000-present)
2002 Conference USA Champion and led the Blue Demons to highest finish (3rd) in the program's history at the C-USA meet... Placed 25th at the league meet as a freshman and 17th as a sophomore in 2001... The only DePaul cross country student-athlete, male or female, to earn All-American status... Placed 37th at the 2002 NCAA Championship and was named an All-American ... Also placed second that year in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship.
Bettina Bard, Louisville (1995-96)
A two-time all-C-USA performer (1995, 1996) ... 1996 C-USA Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year following win at C-USA Women's Cross Country Championships ... Led the Cardinals to the 1996 C-USA Women's Cross Country team title, the school's only conference championship ever in cross country ... One of only two U of L women's runners to ever win an individual cross country conference championship ... Also won four C-USA individual titles in indoor and outdoor track.
Susan Barth, Marquette (1999-02)
Member of three C-USA Championship teams (2000, 2001, 2002) ... Earned All-Conference Honors four times (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002)....Named C-USA Cross Country Freshman of the Year in 1999 ...Named to All-Great Lakes Region team three times (2000, 2001, 2002) ... Participated in three NCAA National Championship meets (2000, 2001, 2002) ... Named C-USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week three times.
Brianna Dahm, Marquette (2000-04)
Member of three C-USA Championship teams (2000, 2001, 2003)....Earned All-Conference honors three times (2000, 2001, 2003)....Earned All-Great Lakes Region Honors three times (2000, 2001, 2003)....Named C-USA Cross Country Freshman of the Year in 2000....Participated in three NCAA Championship meets, placing as high as 51st in 2001.
Amy Erickson, Marquette (1995-98)
Member of two C-USA Championship teams (1995, 1997) ... Finished first overall at the 1997 C-USA Championship Meet ... Earned All-American honors in 1997 following a 26th place finish at the NCAA Championship meet ... Named to C-USA All-Conference Team four times (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998) ... Named to NCAA All-District Team four times (1995, 1996, 1997, 1998)....Earned GTE/CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American team as a senior ...1994 C-USA Freshman of the Year....1997 C-USA Athlete of the Year.
Mary Kinyanjui, TCU (2003-2004)
Earned first team all-conference honors by winning the 2003 Conference USA Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:45 ... She became just the second TCU female athlete in history to capture an individual conference championships in cross country ... She was later named the 2003 South Central Region Female Athlete of the Year after winning the regional meet in 20:44, earning a trip to the NCAA meet. Placed 45th at the NCAA Championships.
Glady's Keitany, TCU (2001)
After winning the Western Athletic Conference individual cross country title in 2000, Glady's Keitany took top honors at the Conference USA meet in 2001, posting a winning time of 19:44.5 for the 6K event. She finished 22 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Keitany went on to place third in the South Central Region and 31st at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Keitany is the only female cross country athlete at TCU to capture two individual conference titles.
C-USA WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACH OF THE DECADE
Dave Uhrich, Marquette (1995-present)
Won more Conference titles, six, than any other coach ... Earned Coach of the Year honors six times ... While in C-USA he has had 39 All-Conference honorees, four women earn Freshman of the Year awards, one Athlete of the Year and one All-American ... Took his team to the NCAA Championship meet four consecutive years.
