
Rifle claims title over San Francisco

Reno, Nev. - TCU rifle started the season with a double-header in the desert. The team placed third in the first match behind the Nevada men's and women's teams with a score of 1,496. In the second match, the team fired a 1,489 to defeat the San Francisco men's and women's teams Saturday.
Leading the way for the Horned Frogs in the first match was sophomore Celeste Green (Lufkin, Texas/Hewitt), who is the only returning record-holder for the team. Green tied for fourth place with a score of 380. In her first collegiate competition, freshman Nikki LeCompte (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) made her mark with a score of 374 to earn her a sixth place finish. Junior Jess Parras (Monahans, Texas/Monahans) was not far behind with a tie for seventh and a score of 373, which is her highest score in competition. Rounding out the team was senior Nina Martinez (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) who had a share of ninth place with a score of 369.
Lecompte stepped up for the second match and shot a 374 to earn a tie for second. Martinez and Parras placed fifth and sixth with scores of 370 and 368, respectively. Junior Joncee Moulder (Weatherford, Texas/Weatherford) moved up to the purple squad for the second match to shoot a 352 to earn an eighth place finish.
The Frogs return to action Saturday, Sept. 27 with a meet at Memphis and followed by a meet at Mississippi on Sunday, Sept. 28.
