Winners of six of its last eight games, TCU baseball looks to continue its winning ways when it travels to Memphis, Tenn. to take on the University of Memphis Tigers in a three-game Conference USA series. Game times are slated for 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at U of M's Nat Buring Stadium. All three games can be heard in the Metroplex on KTCU 88.7 FM
The Horned Frogs arrive in Memphis sporting a 19-13 overall record. They currently stand tied with Houston and East Carolina for third place in C-USA with a 6-3 league mark.
The three-game set at Memphis marks the beginning of a six-game road trip for the Frogs. TCU carries just a 5-4 mark away from Fort Worth this season. However, the Frogs are 3-0 on the road in league play after sweeping its last trip to the banks of the Mississippi, March 21-23 at Saint Louis.
TCU is also embarking on a trip which will see them play 11 of its final 14 games in the month of April away from the friendly confines of Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.
Despite a 8-19 overall record and last-place 1-8 mark in C-USA, Memphis has been tough on their home turf in 2003. The Tigers are 7-8 in Memphis this season while winless on the road at 0-10. Also obscured by U of M's win-loss record are some impressive wins, including an 8-7 triumph over No. 5 Mississippi State on March 19.
The meeting between the two squads is their first as members of C-USA. The only time the two schools ever faced each other in baseball was during both teams' last appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1994. The Horned Frogs defeated the Tigers 11-3 in the NCAA Regional at Stillwater, Okla.
