
Browne Named First Team Academic All-American

TCU placekicker Nick Browne has been selected to the first team CoSIDA Academic All-America team, announced today. It's the second straight year that Browne has been named to the first team Academic All-America squad.
Browne, a senior from Garland, Texas, was named to the first team All-America squad as selected by the Football Writers Association of America last week. In addition to his success on the playing field, Browne earned a 3.97 GPA while earning an undergraduate degree in finance.
Browne was successful on 27-of-32 field goal attempts this season. He became the school's all-time single season kicking points leader with 115 while setting a school record with 27 field goals.He also set the school's single game record with 19 kicking points and tied his own mark with five field goals in the win over Cincinnati.
A Groza Award semifinalist for the second straight year, Browne is tied for the nation's lead with an average of 2.25 field goals made per game and is tied for ninth in the country in scoring (9.75 ppg). He has been named the C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week a record five times this season and nine times in his career. He sits atop the all-time scoring list for kickers at TCU with 292 points and is behind only LaDainian Tomlinson in career points at TCU regardless of position. He is also the school record holder for career field goals made, converting 64 of 82 attempts.
Browne becomes the first player in TCU history to earn back-to-back first team Academic All-America honors since Jim Swink was honored in 1955 and 1956.
