The TCU Horned Frogs are ranked 14th in the first BCS poll, released today.
The Frogs are 7-0 on the season (4-0 in Conference USA) and just one of five undefeated teams remaining in the country. Undefeated teams from Oklahoma, Miami (Fla.) and Virginia Tech own the top three spots in the BCS poll. Northern Illinois, the only other undefeated school, comes in at number 10 in the initial poll. The Huskies and Horned Frogs are the only two non-BCS schools to be ranked among the nation's top 15.
"We're excited about it," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "To be in the top 20 in any poll is a positive and a compliment for this football program. I'm sure our kids will be excited to see it. However, we won't have any conversation about the BCS unless we win the next five games. We'll keep taking them one at a time."
The Frogs put their national ranking on the line Saturday, when they travel to Houston to face the Houston Cougars (5-2, 2-1) in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
