TCU placekicker Nick Browne has been selected as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of October 18, the conference office announced today.
Browne, a senior from Garland, Texas, earns the league's Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the fourth time in the last five weeks and for the eighth time in his career. He earned this week's award after accounting for 13 of TCU's 27 points in a 27-24 win over UAB last Saturday night. Browne hit on all four of his field goal attempts, connecting from 25, 48, 37 and 49 yards out, and his lone extra point attempt.
For the season, Browne has hit on 15-of-17 field goal attempts, including all four attempts from beyond 40 yards, and all 16 of his extra point opportunities. He has converted 10 consecutive field goal opportunities. He leads Conference USA in scoring, averaging 8.7 points per game, and is tied for fourth in the nation with an average of 2.14 field goals made per game.
Browne and the rest of the nationally-ranked and undefeated Horned Frogs will be in action again on Saturday, when they travel to Houston to face the Houston Cougars in another Conference USA battle. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
