Gearing Up for C-USA
TCU's nonconference schedule was a tough one, as the Horned Frogs played a pair of ranked teams. The Horned Frogs lost 3-0 at No. 20 Pepperdine on Sept. 8 and dropped a 3-0 result to No. 8 Texas A&M. In addition, SMU, rated 22nd, is slated to visit Fort Worth on Oct. 2.
Filling Out the Ballots
TCU was picked to place ninth among Conference USA's 14 teams this year. East Carolina, was tabbed to finish seventh in the preseason coaches' poll.
Against the Pirates
TCU is 0-1-0 all-time against East Carolina. the Horned Frogs suffered a 2-1 road loss to the Pirates on Sept. 21, 2001 in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Needing Some More
The Horned Frogs have scored more than one goal just twice in seven matches this season.
Three Times the Crowd
The women's soccer team set an all-time Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium attendance record on Sunday when 1,723 fans crammed in to see the Horned Frogs play the Texas A&M Aggies. The previous women's record was 600, just more than one-third of Sunday's gathering.
Needing A Stop
TCU, who allowed just two goals in their first three matches of the year (0.67 per game), have yielded 12 scores over their last four contests 3.00 per game).
Good Karma
Senior Nicole Carman, who had a breakout season in 2001 with a career-high seven goals, is on a scoring tear in 2002. She already has five goals and one assist, meaning she needs just four points to break her personal record for points in a season (14). She had the second two-goal game of her career a week ago Thursday night. Interestingly, both have come against Rice.
