Head Coach Gary Patterson and the TCU football coaching staff welcomed 22 newcomers, 18 scholarship players and four walk-ons, to campus today as preparations continue for the 2002 football campaign.
"It's great to have them all here," said Patterson. "This could be one of the most talented classes we've had at TCU since I've been here. In addition to their abilities on the field, they all have great personalities. I'm really excited about finding out what this group can do athletically, as well as how they handle the mental part of playing college football," added Patterson.
The players will take the field wearing the purple and white of the Horned Frogs for the first time on Thursday, with the first practice scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Veterans are scheduled to report on Saturday with the first full squad workout set for Monday morning.
The list of newcomers arriving today includes: Chad Andrus, Jeff Ballard, Maurice Bouldwin, Bryan Bradford, Eric Buchanan, Michael DePriest, Elvis Gallegos, Quentily Harmon, Matt Hines, Lonta Hobbs, Terence James, Kyle Kummer, Reggie La'Mothe, Robert Merrill, Marvin Pearson, Jared Retkofsky, Cory Rodgers, Ryan Schlenger, Herbert Taylor, C.J. Thornton, Gerrad Wilson and Jarrarcea Williams.
