Former TCU Flyin' Frog Darvis Patton took top honors in the 100-meter dash at the Asics Grand Prix, contested in Helsinki, Finland on August 13.
According to the International Association of Athletics Federation website, the men's dash was an open race with South Africa's indoor 60m specialist Morne Nagel blasting out of the blocks to head the field until about the midway point. Then USA's Darvis Patton powered through into a lead he was not to relinquish. The winning time was 10.20 (-1.3m/s wind). Nigeria's Deji Aliu (10.26) was second and world indoor 200m champion Shawn Crawford, third with 10.31.
Patton is currently ranked 28th in the world at the 100-meter distance. He joins former Flyin' Frogs Kim Collins (6th) and Jon Drummond (13th) among the top 30 100-meter sprinters in the world
