TCU Conducts Second Spring Scrimmage

The TCU Horned Frogs football squad went through an 85-play scrimmage at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Thursday afternoon. After scoring just three points in the first scrimmage of the spring last Saturday, the Frogs put 17 points on the board today.
The offense got off to a quick start, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the first 26 plays. Junior tailback Ricky Madison came through the line clean on a third-and-short situation and scampered untouched into the endzone on a 47-yard burst. Later, senior quarterback Sean Stilley connected with senior wide receiver Adrian Madise on a quick out pattern and Madise turned it into a 46-yard reception to the one-yard line. Junior Kenny Hayter carried it into the endzone on the next play.
The final scoring came when redshirt freshman Mike Wynn boomed a 45-yard field goal that split the uprights.
"Offensively, we started well today," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "We converted eight of our first 13 third down situations and kept the sticks moving. However, we ended up just 9-of-23 overall. We had five penalties to stop drives - four procedures and one holding. The defense started too slow and gave up two early touchdowns. They picked it up in the second half of the scrimmage."
The Frogs will enjoy a break for the Easter weekend, and resume practice on Tuesday, April 2. TCU will practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week in preparation for the Saturday, April 6 Purple/White Spring Game. That scrimmage is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
