The TCU Horned Frogs (11-12, 1-8 C-USA) return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Wednesday, February 6 to host the DePaul Blue Demons (8-12, 1-7). Tipoff for the Conference USA contest is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Frogs are coming off of a 98-72 loss at Memphis, while DePaul lost a non-conference contest at UNLV, 90-75, on Sunday. TCU has lost two straight and eight of the last nine games, while DePaul has dropped three consecutive games and eight of the last nine overall.
Radio/TV: The DePaul game can be heard on KMKI Disney 620 AM radio and KTCU (88.7 FM) with Brian Estridge (play-by-play) and former TCU basketball letterman Herb Stephens (analysis) describing the action.
Billy Tubbs: One of the nation's winningest coaches, Billy Tubbs is in his 8th season at TCU and his 28th overall as a head coach. His career record stands at 590-294, which places him 12th among the NCAA's winningest active coaches. Tubbs is 10 wins shy of the 600 victory plateau. Only 35 coaches have won at least 600 games in their respective careers. While at TCU, Tubbs has recorded a win-loss mark of 151-92. He is assisted by Brian Fish, Rob Flaska and Scott Edgar.
Home Sweet Home: Under Billy Tubbs, Daniel-Meyer Coliseum has developed into one of the more difficult places for opponents to play. Since arriving in Fort Worth, Tubbs' coached teams have posted an impressive 101-24 mark at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, plus they are 3-0 in games played at the Fort Worth Convention Center. In home conference games, the Frogs are 38-17 under Tubbs. Last season, the Frogs recorded a 15-1 win-loss mark at Daniel-Meyer, including a 7-1 record in conference games.
TCU vs. DePaul: This is the fourth meeting between TCU and DePaul. The Blue Demons lead in the overall series, 2-1. The two teams last met on December 21, 1993, when DePaul defeated TCU, 93-69, in Fort Worth. DePaul also posted a 79-68 win over the Frogs (in Chicago) on February 24, 1993. TCU's lone win came in the first meeting - a 71-65 victory on March 14, 1959 in Lawrence, Kansas. The meeting was a second-round consolation game in the 1959 Midwest Regional. Billy Tubbs is 1-2 against DePaul, having faced the Blue Demons three times in his career. Tubbs last faced DePaul in the 1992-93 season, when the Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Blue Demons, 108-94.
About The DePaul Blue Demons: DePaul enters the game with a record of 8-12 this season, 1-7 in conference play. The Blue Demons are coached by Pat Kennedy, who is in his fifth season at DePaul. Kennedy has missed each of the last four games due to a bulging disk in his back. In his place, associate coach Tracy Dildy has filled in as the head coach. DePaul is led by Andre Brown, who is averaging 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. The Blue Demons are averaging 73.4 points, while allowing 76.3 per contest. The lone win in conference play was a 80-58 decision at East Carolina. Marlon Brooks has led the Blue Demons in scoring in the last two games, scoring 18 vs. Charlotte and 17 at UNLV.
