The TCU Horned Frogs swept the Conference USA Player of the Week honors for the week of November 2, the league office announced today. It marked just the second time in Conference USA history that one school swept the three football awards in the same week, joining Louisville from the week of November 19, 2001.
True freshman tailback Lonta Hobbs was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Hobbs carried 15 times for a career-high 123 yards and three touchdowns in TCU's 37-7 win over Southern Miss. He scored on touchdown runs of 15, 53 and 13 yards, while averaging 8.2 yards per carry. Hobbs became the first Horned Frog to score three touchdowns in a game since LaDainian Tomlinson scored three times versus UTEP on November 18, 2000.
Senior linebacker LaMarcus McDonald was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. McDonald led TCU in tackles for the seventh time this season, getting in on a game-high 17 stops, including four sacks and six tackles for loss, totaling 15 yards in the Frogs' win over Southern Miss. The TCU defense limited the Golden Eagles to just 185 total yards on the night.
Nick Browne earned the distinction of C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season and for the fourth time in his career. He scored 13 points in TCU's win over Southern Miss, converting all three of his field goal attempts along with four extra points. He hit his 17th, 18th and 19th field goals of the season from 29, 30 and 48 yards out.
The trio becomes the fourth, fifth and sixth TCU football players to be honored by the conference this season. Previously, Browne was the Special Teams Player of the Week on September 3, LaTarence Dunbar was the Special Teams Player of the Week on October 7 and Tye Gunn was the Offensive Player of the Week on October 21.
