
TCU Men's Golf Leads After Prestige's First Round

LA QUINTA, Calif. - TCU fired a four-under-par 284 and holds a two-stroke lead over UC Irvine (286) following Monday's first round of The Prestige At PGA West, played on the par-72, 6,841-yard La Quinta Resort Mountain Course. Monday's play was scheduled for two rounds, but darkness halted play with over half the field still needing a few holes to complete the second round.
TCU and UC Irvine were the only two teams in the 18-team field to break par in the morning round. The University of the Pacific, highlighted by first-round leader Matt Hansen's five-under 67 is in third place following a three-over par score of 291. UCLA and Washington are tied for fourth, eight strokes off the lead after both teams shot 292s.
UC Davis (293), Vanderbilt (295), Stanford (298), Yale (298) and Pepperdine (299) round out the top 10. Kansas (300), completed its round in 11th, followed by Rice (301), San Diego (301), Air Force (302), UC San Diego (303), Oregon (304), UC Santa Barbara (304) and Colorado (311).
Individually, Hansen's 67 leads TCU's David Schultz by one shot. The Horned Frog sophomore posted a four-under-par 68. Fellow TCU sophomore J.J. Killeen posted a one-under 71 to sit in a share of 10th place following one round. Senior Adam Rubinson has a share of 16th after carding a 72 (E). Meanwhile, junior Stephen Polanski (73) is tied for 24th, while freshman Colby Beckstrom, who was Conference USA's October Co-Golfer of the Month, scored a 79.
The Prestige At PGA West, hosted by UC Davis and Stanford, is in its third year of bringing together 18 of the nation's top academic and golf-playing universities. The Prestige will begin Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. (PT) with the completion of the second round immediately followed by the final 18 holes.
