The TCU Horned Frogs have moved into the national rankings for the first time since the end of the 2000 season as the ESPN/USA Today Coaches and Associated Press polls were released today. The Frogs are ranked 24th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and hold the 25th spot in the AP rankings.
"I'm excited for the kids," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "It's something they've worked towards. The key is we control our own destiny for a conference championship. Being ranked at the end of the season is one of our goals, but right now we need to focus on East Carolina."
The Frogs have won eight straight games and are 8-1 on the season. They sit atop the Conference USA standings with a 5-1 record with two games remaining. TCU will play at East Carolina on Saturday, November 23, then conclude the season with a home contest versus Memphis on Saturday, November 30.
TCU is ranked for the first time since they finished the 2000 season as the 18th best team according to the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and 21st in the AP poll following a 10-2 campaign.
