
C-USA Cross Country Championships to be held November 2

The TCU men's and women's cross country teams will return to action this weekend when they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to compete in the 2002 Conference USA Cross Country Championships. The eighth annual C-USA championships will be hosted by Southern Miss at the Van Hook Golf Course. The women's 6,000 meter race will begin at 9 a.m. (central time), with the men's 8,000-meter race following at 9:45 a.m. (central time).
Men's Field - Charlotte, Cincinnati, DePaul, East Carolina, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Florida, TCU, Tulane and UAB.
Women's Field - Charlotte, Cincinnati, DePaul, East Carolina, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Florida, Southern Miss, TCU, Tulane and UAB.

Team Notes
Last season, the TCU women's cross country team placed third overall... the women were led by individual medalist Glady's Keitany, who won her fourth title of the season, and her second straight conference title... the men, led by individual winner Eliud Njubi, finished eighth overall... this season, the women have been led by freshman Alayne Thompson, who has posted top-five finishes in all four meets... in addition to winning the Sam Houston State Invitational, Thompson finished third at the North Texas Opener, fourth at the Oklahoma State Jamboree and fourth at the Texas A&M Invitational... at A&M, she ran the 6,000-meter course in a time of 21:50... she earned Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors after the Sam Houston State Invitational, and following her fourth place finish at Texas A&M... freshman Katrina Zielinski has three top-20 finishes, including fifth-place showings at the North Texas Opener and Sam Houston State Invitational... she finished 16th at Texas A&M, and 33rd at the OSU Jamboree... freshman Heather Isbell also has three top-20 finishes this fall, as she placed seventh at the UNT Opener, 11th at the Sam Houston State Invitational and 17th at Texas A&M... Jackson Langat is the top runner on the men's side, as he has posted three top-10 finishes... he won the UNT Opener with a time of 20:35 in the four-mile race, earning C-USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors... he placed fifth at the Sam Houston State Invitational, 30th at the OSU Jamboree, and sixth at Texas A&M... the TCU women have a pair of second-place finishes (UNT and Sam Houston State), plus a sixth-place finish at Texas A&M and a 10th place finish at the OSU Jamboree... the women are currently ranked 10th in the latest NCAA South Central Rankings... the men's best finish was a third place showing at the UNT Opener.
