
TCU Men's Golf in 11th at NCAA Preview

STILLWATER, Okla. - Freshman Colby Beckstrom led the TCU Horned Frogs throughout the first two rounds of the PING/Golfweek NCAA Preview at the Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla. Beckstrom, who is tied for 13th place individually, scored a three-over-par 147 over the first 36 holes. With a 607 (+31), TCU currently sits in 11th place at the tournament.
Augusta State leads the tournament after scoring a 15-over-par 591 on the first 36 holes. Five other teams are within five strokes of the lead. The 15-team field features the top 12 finishing teams at the 2002 NCAA Championships as well as three selected top-25 schools. The course is the site of the 2003 NCAA Championships.
Beckstrom started out the tournament on fire, scoring birdies on four of the first six holes. After sitting atop the leaderboard in the early going, Beckstrom cooled off, and wound up with a three-over 75 on the opening 18 holes. He posted an even-par 72 in the afternoon round to move back into the top 20.
Senior Adam Rubinson carded the Frogs' lone under-par round of the day when he scored a 71 (-1). He is tied for 23rd individually with a two-round total of 150. Sophomore David Schultz, who has placed in the top six in each of the first two tournaments this fall, is tied for 34th overall with a score of 152 (+8).
Fellow sophomore J.J. Killeen bounced back from an 86 in the first round to card a 74 in round two. Killeen has a share of 64th place with a 160. Junior Stephen Polanski is one stroke and two places behind Killeen (161, T-66th).
