
TCU to host UAB in Men's Basketball

The TCU Horned Frogs (11-10, 1-6 C-USA) return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Tuesday, January 29 to host the UAB Blazers (9-11, 2-5 C-USA) in a Conference USA contest. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m. The Frogs are coming off of a 75-61 win over Southern Miss on Saturday night, while UAB posted an 80-63 win over Tulane. The win over Southern Miss was TCU's first in Conference USA, and it ended a six-game losing streak. The Frogs will next travel to Memphis to face the Memphis Tigers on Saturday, February 2. TCU will then return home to host DePaul (Feb. 6) and Houston (Feb. 9).
Radio/TV: The UAB game can be heard on KMKI Disney 620 AM radio and KTCU (88.7 FM) with Brian Estridge (play-by-play) and former TCU basketball letterman Herb Stephens (analysis) describing the action. The game will be not be televised.
Billy Tubbs: One of the nation's winningest coaches, Billy Tubbs is in his 8th season at TCU and his 28th overall as a head coach. His career record stands at 590-292, which places him 12th among the NCAA's winningest active coaches. Tubbs is 10 wins shy of the 600 victory plateau. Only 35 coaches have won at least 600 games in their respective careers. While at TCU, Tubbs has recorded a win-loss mark of 151-90. He is assisted by Brian Fish, Rob Flaska and Scott Edgar.
Home Sweet Home: Under Billy Tubbs, Daniel-Meyer Coliseum has developed into one of the more difficult places for opponents to play. Since arriving in Fort Worth, Tubbs' coached teams have posted an impressive 101-23 mark at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, plus they are 3-0 in games played at the Fort Worth Convention Center. In home conference games, the Frogs are 38-16 under Tubbs. Last season, the Frogs recorded a 15-1 win-loss mark at Daniel-Meyer, including a 7-1 record in conference games.
TCU vs. UAB: This is the third meeting between TCU and UAB. The series is tied 1-1. The two teams last met on March 12, 1997, when the Frogs defeated the Blazers, 85-62. The contest, held in Fort Worth, was a first-round matchup in the National Invitational Tournament. The first meeting between TCU and UAB came in the 1985 season, when UAB defeated TCU, 69-62, in a game played in Las Vegas. As a head coach, Billy Tubbs has a 2-0 record against UAB, having posted wins while at TCU and Oklahoma (1983-NCAA Midwest Regional).
About The UAB Blazers: UAB enters the game with a record of 9-11 this season, 2-5 in conference play. The Blazers are coached by Murry Bartow, who has recorded a win-loss mark of 99-84 in five-plus seasons. The Blazers are in fifth-place in the National Division, and they have posted C-USA wins over East Carolina and Tulane. Led by Will Campbell's 27 points, the Blazers defeated Tulane, 80-63 last Saturday, ending a four-game losing streak. Campbell has led UAB in scoring and rebounding in each of the last two games, posting double-doubles against Tulane and Memphis. He is currently averaging 11.2 points and 8.7 rebounds. P.J. Arnold leads the team in scoring with 13.1 average.
