GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Extending its winning streak to nine, TCU's men's swimming and diving team romped past Conference USA-foe East Carolina 140-101 Saturday in Greenville, N.C. However, the Horned Frog women weren't as fortunate, having a nine-meet win run snapped by the Pirates, 135-102.
For the second-straight day, the men were led to victory by a balanced attack, paced by senior co-captains Scott Adkins and Josh Pipes. Adkins captured the 200-yard breastroke (2:04.12) and Pipes claimed victory in the 200 butterfly (1:53.10) to mirror their accomplishments from Friday's win at UNC-Wilmington. The duo also sparked the squad's 400 medley relay team to a win to open the competition and set the pace for the Frogs.
On the women's side, the Freshman Aimee Moreau was the only two-time winner for the Horned Frogs as the squad lost for the first time since a season-opening defeat to Texas A&M. Moreau notched triumphs in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.18), as well as helping the Purple and White to victory in the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.10).
With the day's events, the men run their record to 9-2, while the Lady Frogs fall to 9-2. The TCU men haven't lost since opening the season with a pair of losses to nationally ranked opponents, Texas A&M and SMU.
The meet was the first ever C-USA competition for both teams. The squads will meet again Feb. 17-19 at the inaugural Conference USA Championships in Indianapolis.
