TCU Golfers Finish 22nd at Regional

STILLWATER, Okla.--The TCU Horned Frogs finished in 22nd place with a 41-over-par 905 at the NCAA Central Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Frogs' final-round score of 293 tied for the lowest round of the day. TCU was able to move up four places on the final day, but failed to advance to the NCAA Championships for just the third time in the last 11 years.
TCU sophomore Adam Rubinson was the team's top performer, finishing with a two-over-par 218. The first-team all-conference performer shot a final-round 74 to finish with a share of 12th place individually. He narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAAs as an individual.
Senior Aaron Hickman closed his career with a tie for 60th with a 54-hole total of 226. He fired his second straight 74 on Saturday to finish 10-over-par for the tournament. Fellow senior Scott Volpitto, who earned second-team all-WAC honors for the first time in his career, tied for 97th with a 231. He also carded a 74 on the final day.
Junior Andy Doeden had his best round on Saturday, firing a one-under 71. As a result, he finished in a tie for 105th place with a 232. Freshman Stephen Polanski (T120th-236) also had his best score of the tourney with a 77.
Kent State, Oklahoma and Purdue tied for top honors at the regional with scores of 883. The top 10 teams qualified for the NCAA Championships in Durham, N.C.
