STILLWATER, Okla.--The TCU Horned Frogs recorded a 15-over-par 303 during Friday's second round of the NCAA Central Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma. With the effort, the Frogs moved closer to the tournament's lead pack, but remain in 26th place. TCU must finish in the top 10 at the three-day event to advance to the NCAA Championships for the ninth time in the last 11 years.
While the team may be considered a longshot to make the tournament, TCU sophomore Adam Rubinson has a chance to qualify individually. After two rounds, the Fort Worth native is at even-par (144) and sits in a tie for 11th place. The top two individuals on non-advancing teams qualify to play in the NCAAs.
Senior Aaron Hickman moved into a tie for 79th after shooting a two-over-par 74 on Friday. TCU's other competitors include: senior Scott Volpitto (T107th-157), freshman Stephen Polanski (T120th-159) and junior Andy Doeden (T127th-161).
The College of Charleston leads the field by six strokes with a two-day score of 578. Play concludes on Saturday with the final 18 holes. Scoring updates are available periodically throughout each day on www.golfstat.com and on www.okstate.com.
The NCAA Division I Men's Championship, hosted by Duke, is scheduled for May 30-June2 at the Duke University Golf Course in Durham, N.C.
