Men's Golf Scuffles at Central Regional

STILLWATER, Okla.--The TCU Horned Frogs shot an opening-round 309, the second-highest round of the day, at the NCAA Central Regional on Thursday. In order to advance to the NCAA Championships, the 13th-ranked Frogs must finish among the top 10 in the 27-team field.
Sophomore Adam Rubinson was the top Frog on the first day, shooting a two-over-par 74. The first-team all-WAC performer is currently tied for 37th place individually. Seniors Aaron Hickman and Scott Volpitto each shot rounds of 78 to tie for 102nd place, while junior Andy Doeden and freshman Stephen Polanski each scored 79s and are in a tie for 114th.
The tournament continues with the second round on Friday morning. Play concludes on Saturday with the final 18 holes. Scoring updates are available periodically throughout each day on golfstat.com and on okstate.com.
The top 10 teams from each of the three regionals will advance to nationals. Also qualifying will be the top two individuals in each region not on an advancing team. The NCAA Division I Men's Championship, hosted by Duke, are scheduled for May 30-June2 at the Duke University Golf Course in Durham, N.C.
