Texas Tech Defeats TCU Baseball, 14-4

FORT WORTH -? Texas Tech's Kerry Hodges' had five hits in five at-bats to lead the Red Raiders to a 14-4 win over TCU Tuesday at the TCU Diamond. Tech improves to 32-15-1, while TCU drops to 27-20.
Hodges had three singles and two doubles, plus he scored four runs to pace Tech's 17-hit afternoon. The Red Raiders erupted for five runs in the fourth to break open a 2-2 ball game. The key hit in the fourth was a three-run home run by Austin Cranford. Tech added four more runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to win 14-4.
The Frogs scored twice in the third on two hits and two Tech errors, then added two more runs in the fourth. Walter Olmstead's solo home run in the fourth accounted for one run, then Rudy Rivera's sacrifice fly drove in Jason Price for the fourth run of the game. Mike Settle and Rudy Rivera each had two hits for the Frogs.
Cory Metzler, who earned his fourth win, allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits in seven innings. Chad Durham suffered the loss. He allowed seven runs, six earned, on seven hits in 3.2 innings.
The Frogs will return to the TCU Diamond on Friday, April 27, when they open a four-game series against San Jose State.
