TCU set to host Lenoir-Rhyne

The TCU Horned Frogs (5-3) return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Saturday, December 8 to host the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (1-7) in a non-conference game. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m. With four player scoring in double figures, TCU defeated Creighton, 82-77 on December 4. Lenoir-Rhyne has dropped four straight, including a 72-69 overtime loss to Brevard College on December 3. Tonight's game is the second of seven straight home games for the Frogs. TCU will return to action next Saturday, December 15, when they host Texas-San Antonio at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Radio/TV: The Lenoir-Rhyne game can be heard on Disney Radio 620 AM or KTCU (88.7 FM) with Brian Estridge (play-by-play) and former TCU basketball letterman Herb Stephens (analysis) describing the action. The game will not be televised.
Billy Tubbs: One of the nation's winningest coaches, Billy Tubbs is in his 8th season at TCU and his 28th overall as a head coach. His career record stands at 584-285, which places him 12th among the NCAA's winningest active coaches. Tubbs needs only 16 wins to reach the 600 victory plateau. Only 35 coaches have won at least 600 games in their respective careers. While at TCU, Tubbs has recorded a win-loss mark of 145-83. He is assisted by Brian Fish, Rob Flaska and Scott Edgar.
Home Sweet Home: Under Billy Tubbs, Daniel-Meyer Coliseum has developed into one of the more difficult places for opponents to play. Since arriving in Fort Worth, Tubbs' coached teams have posted an impressive 97-20 mark at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Last season, the Frogs recorded a 15-1 win-loss mark at Daniel-Meyer.
Conference USA Preseason Poll: The league head coaches have picked TCU to finish fifth in the National Division of Conference USA. Preseason top-25 team Memphis is picked to win the National Division, while Cincinnati is the top pick in the American Division. South Florida is picked to finish second in the National Division, and they are followed by UAB, Southern Miss, TCU, Houston and then Tulane. Charlotte is picked to finish second in the American Division, followed by Marquette, Louisville, Saint Louis, DePaul and East Carolina.
TCU vs. Lenoir-Rhyne: This is the first meeting between TCU and Lenoir-Rhyne.
About the Bears: Lenoir-Rhyne is under the direction of head cooach John Lentz, who has a career record of 276-235 in over 18 years as a head coach. Lenoir-Rhyne, which is located in Hickory, North Carolina, is a member of the South Atlantic Conference. The Bears are led by sophomore guard Randy Mauldin, who is averaging 13.4 points per game. As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne is averaging 63.3 points per game, while their opponents are averaging only 69.3 points. In the first meeting between the Lenoir-Rhyne and Brevard, the Bears won, 82-64. Then on December 3, Brevard pulled out a 72-69 win in overtime.
