TCU strong safety Marvin Godbolt has been selected to The Sporting News second team Freshman All-America squad, the magazine announced today.
Godbolt, a 5-11, 195-pound redshirt freshman from San Antonio, made an immediate impact upon his arrival in Division I football. He made seven tackles, five behind the line of scrimmage for a total of 37 yards in losses, in the Frogs' season opener at Nebraska, earning TCU Most Valuable Player of the Game honors by ABC Sports. He finished the season second on the squad with six sacks and recorded 13 tackles for loss among his 59 total tackles. He was ranked among the nation's leaders in both sacks and tackles for loss among freshmen. Earlier this season, The Sporting News called him the "Best Blitzer" in Conference USA. He was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman squad last week.
