TCU-Southern Miss Winner To Receive Bowl Bid

The galleryfurniture.com Bowl will extend an invitation to the winner of the TCU-Southern Miss game on December 7, bowl officials announced today. The winning team will represent Conference USA against a team from the Big 12 Conference. The bowl game will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 28 in the Reliant Astrodome.
"TCU and Southern Miss are two traditionally outstanding football programs and two exciting teams," said Jerry Ippoliti, President and CEO of the galleryfurniture.com Bowl. "We'd be honored and elated to have either one in our bowl game.
"This couldn't come to a better climax," Ippoliti continued. "A game on national TV. Winner gets the bid. Three hours of free advertising for the galleryfurniture.com Bowl and Conference USA."
The Horned Frogs (5-5) and Southern Miss (6-4) will meet in Hattiesburg on Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m. That contest will be televised on ESPN2. Big 12 Conference teams which remain possibilities as the bowl opponent on December 28 include Texas A&M (7-4), Texas Tech (7-4), Kansas State (6-5) and Iowa State (7-4).
The galleryfurniture.com Bowl has an entire month of activities planned for December, including the Memorial Hermann SportsFest at the Reliant Arena December 8 and 9 and the Breakfast of Excellence featuring Special Bowl Achievement Award winner Bill Yeoman December 18.
