CHICAGO - TCU senior Jamie MacCurdy (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) has been named TCU's first-ever Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced today. MacCurdy was honored for her three-win performance in the Horned Frogs' 72-41 victory over Southwest Missouri State last Saturday at the Rickel Center.
In the last home meet of her illustrious TCU career, MacCurdy captured the 200 IM (2:06.84), 200 back (2:04.38) and 400 medley relay (3:35.00) to lead the Horned Frogs. For the season, she has claimed six individual and two relay titles in only three meets.
MacCurdy holds TCU's top 2001-02 times in four events (200 back, 200 IM, 1000 free and 400 medley relay), while posting the Frogs' second-best times of the season in the 100 back and 200 fly. Additionally, she is the school record-holder in four events (200 back, 200 IM, 400 IM and 400 medley relay) and is the three-time defending TCU Most Valuable Swimmer.
The honor is the third of its kind in MacCurdy's career, as she was a two-time Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, garnering the plaudits in December 1999 and again last January.
MacCurdy and the rest of the Horned Frogs embark on their first road trip of the season with three dual meets this weekend in Indiana and Illinois. The trip kicks off at 5 p.m.Thursday at Valparaiso.
