C-USA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Women - GLADY'S KEITANY, TCU
Keitany claimed individual honors at the UNT Invitational to help the Horned Frogs to a first-place finish in the team standings. She placed first out of 107 runners and posted a time of 17:27, 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Karin Van Royen of SMU. The title was her third of the season.
Men -Eliud Njubi, TCU and Chris Reis, Cincinnati
Njubi finished first out of 89 competitors at the UNT Invitational this past weekend. He ran the 8,000-meter event in a time of 24:49.0. Njubi led the Horned Frogs to a sixth-place finish in the team standings. Njubi has won all three cross country events this fall.
Reis won his second consecutive All-Ohio Championship, topping a field of 223 runners and leading Cincinnati to their second All-Ohio team title. Reis posted a time of 25.19 for his second individual title of the season.

Women Cincinnati finished 10th out of 35 teams at the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 5. ANGIE KIST led the Bearcats, placing eighth with a time of 18:42. JENNIFER LIMLE followed in 31st place with a time of 19:36. Cincinnati will next compete at the NCAA Pre-National meet on Oct.13 in Greenville, N.C. ... East Carolina's JOHANNA ALLEN earned her fourth medalist honor of the season after finishing first at the Overton-Pirate Invitational on Oct. 6. The Pirates also claimed the team title with KELLI LITTEN (18:17) and KAY LIVICK (18:46), who placed second and third, respectively ... Houston finished ninth at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 8. JESSIE OAKES placed 14th out of 269 runners and completed the 6,000-meter course in 21.46.29 ...Senior ALICA Cavender of Louisville finished third individually to lead the Cardinals to a first-place tie at the Cardinal Cross Country Classic. Cavender's third-place finish was the highest of her four-year career and her time of 18:45.90 was just six seconds off her career-best. Junior MAREA INGWERSEN (19:06.6) and sophomore EMILY DAUNHAUER (19:07.5) finished seventh and ninth, respectively. The Cardinals return to action on Oct. 12 when they compete at the Eastern Kentucky Invitational ... Memphis placed sixth at the 27th annual Saluki Invitational on Oct. 6. WENDY RAGLE led the Tigers, finishing 21st with a time of 20:28.99, while LILLY LEBRON (20:50.80) captured 32nd place ... Saint Louis finished eighth out of 13 teams at the Saluki Invitational. SARAH MOBERG captured a 36th-place showing with a time of 221:00.24, while MEGAN SNEDEKER (21:08.60) placed 39th and EMILY ZIMMERMAN (21:11.02) finished 41st ... Southern Miss competed at the District 9 Preview, where JANET RONO finished third individually with a time of 27:41.71. KERI WHITE (30:01.48) and ROSE KURUI followed in 27th and 31st place, respectively. No team scores were kept, due to a course error ... TCU claimed the team title at the UNT Invitational on Oct. 6. GLADY'S KEITANY led the Horned Frogs, earning individual medalist honors with a time of 17:27. CINDY DIETRICH followed in sixth place with a time of 18:17, while ROBIN SCHACT crossed the line in 12th place (18:53). The Horned Frogs next compete in the Chili Pepper Invitational on Oct. 13 in Fayetteville, Ark. ... Tulane placed third and was led by EVA LUSTIGOVA, who finished second out of 71 runners at the LSU Invitational. KATRINA GEMMELL also posted a strong performance, taking fourth place with a time of 22:06.70. ...CARLA KELLY of UAB finished second with a time of 25:51.97, while teammate DONNA PUCKE placed 22nd (29:48.36) at the District 9 Preview. Due to an error on the course, no team scores were kept.
Men Cincinnati claimed its second ever All-Ohio Championship team title on Oct. 6. Junior CHRIS REIS won his second consecutive All-Ohio individual title, posting a time of 25:08 on the 8,000-meter course. Junior DAN CASEY scored one of his best finishes of the year, taking fourth place in the 223-runner field with a time of 26:06 ... KYLE MACKENZIE (25:51) was the Pirates' top finisher for the third time this season, tying for first place with teammate CHARLES NICKUM (18:46). MATT HANLON followed in 10th place with a time of 26:51 ... Houston finished 27th at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 6. JARED KUNTZ posted a time of 26:29.57 to finish 101st ... Louisville finished third at the Cardinal Cross Country Classic. Senior JUSTIN BANKS led the Cardinals with a time of 26:12.20 to place ninth overall. Freshman BRIAN HURST and junior MIKE HORAN also turned in strong performances as they came in 11th and 12th, respectively. Louisville travels to Richmond, Ky., on Oct. 12 for the Eastern Kentucky Invitational ... Memphis captured ninth place out of 15 teams at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. BALAZS LASZLO finished 16th with a time of 25:55.29, while RICKY MCLAIN earned 20th place (26:02.65) ... Saint Louis finished 11th out of 14 teams at the Saluki Invitational. JOE PORTER finished 49th with a time of 26:46.21 ... TCU claimed sixth place at the UNT Invitational on Oct. 5. ELIUD NJUBI captured individual medalist honors with a time of 24:49, while BRYAN KATCHINSKA placed 19th (26:36). The Horned Frogs return to action on Oct. 13 at the Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. ... Tulane earned first place out of nine teams at the LSU Invitational. SOLOMON KANDIE led the Green Wave, capturing first place with a time of 25:02.66. ERIK EMILSSON (25:44.16) and ANTHONY LAGAT finished third and fifth, respectively.
