TCU Women win UNT Cross Country Invitational

2001 UNT Invitational Results (Cross Country) Denton - TCU's Glady's Keitany won her third cross country race of the season, leading the TCU women to the team title in the 24th annual UNT Invitational Friday afternoon in Denton. The title was the first of the year for the TCU women.
In the men's race, TCU's Eliud Njubi took individual honors for the third time this season. Keitany and Njubi have won all three cross country events this fall.
The women ended the day with 46 points, three ahead of Rice's 49. SMU finished third, followed by UTA, Sam Houston State and North Texas.
Keitany finished the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:27, 15 seconds ahead of SMU's Karin Vay Royen. The individual title was her seventh in the last two seasons. Cindy Dietrich finished sixth with a time of 18:17, and Robin Schacht placed ninth with a time of 18:41.
Njubi easily outpaced the field in the 8,000 meter course, finishing the event with a time of 24:49, 20 seconds ahead of UTA's Eric Petersen. Bryan Katchinska finished 12th with a time of 26:36. As a team, the men placed sixth in the invitational. UTA took team honors in the invitational.
