FORT WORTH, Texas - Leonard Henry ran for 96 yards and three TDs, the last after an interception by Anthony Adams in the closing minutes, as East Carolina held on to beat TCU 37-30 on Tuesday night.

David Garrard threw for 221 yards and had two TD passes of more than 50 yards, both scores coming in the first half when the Pirates (5-3, 4-0 Conference USA) built a 27-3 lead.

East Carolina had to hold on after Casey Printers took over at quarterback for TCU (4-4, 2-2) in the second half and led the Horned Frogs on four TD drives. Printers completed 24 of 49 passes for 319 yards.

Adams intercepted a pass by Printers that tipped off a receiver's hand, and returned it 51 yards to the TCU 16. Henry scored two plays later on a 12-yard run for a 37-23 lead with 3:54 left, and that still almost wasn't enough.

The Horned Frogs drove 82 yards in 11 plays, scoring again when Printers threw a 12-yard TD pass to Adrian Madise with 1:49 left. TCU then recovered its second onside kick, but the game ended on Printers' incomplete pass on fourth-and-goal from the 20.

Sean Stilley had started his second game in place of Printers, a three-year starter who supposedly has a bruised shoulder. But Stilley suffered an ankle injury when he was sacked on the final play of the first half.

Henry just missed his seventh straight 100-yard rushing game, but he still pushed his season total to 1,039 yards. He is the C-USA's rushing leader and the first East Carolina player with more than 1,000 yards since Scott Harley in 1996.

TCU led 3-0 Nick Browne's 47-yard field goal, which came after Garrard fumbled on the fourth play of the game.

But the Pirates went ahead 6-3 when Henry scored on a 21-yard run, landing in the end zone after a flip that he started by leaping from the 5-yard line to avoid a teammate blocking a defender.

Henry's 8-yard TD run with 26 seconds left in the first half gave East Carolina a 27-3 lead. Garrard hit Richard Alston for a 10-yard pass on fourth-and-10 to keep the drive alive.

Garrard threw both of his TD passes - 51 yards to Alston and 66 yards to Art Brown - in the first quarter when East Carolina led 20-3. Garrard's 58 career TDs match Marcus Crandell for the school record.

On the opening drive of the second half, Printers drove the Frogs to the ECU 8 before an incompletion on fourth down. But Garrard fumbled again on the next play, and Ricky Madison had the first of his two 1-yard TD runs on another fourth down.

After Kevin Miller kicked a 34-yard field goal to put the Pirates up 30-9, the Horned Frogs put together a 15-play, 97-yard drive that ended when Printers threw a 6-yard TD to LaTarence Dunbar.

It was Dunbar's muff on the kickoff that forced TCU to start so deep, but he made up for it. Before the TD, he also had a 33-yard catch. And the Frogs converted two fourth downs, Printers hitting Madise for 7 yards on fourth-and-5 from the 19.

TCU then recovered a deep onside kick, setting up the second Madison TD with 13:31 left after Printers hit Dunbar for a 26-yard gain.
