Top Frogs
The Horned Frogs held the top spot in the Golfweek/Sagarin performance ratings system for nearly four full weeks after winning The Ridges Intercollegiate in September. TCU currently is rated ninth in Golfweek and seventh in the Golfworld Coaches' Poll.
A Chip off the Old Block
Junior Adam Rubinson has placed in the top 10 in each of the first three tournaments of the year. He finished second at The Ridges, third at he Gary Koch and tied for 10th at Red River. He is currently ranked eighth individually according to Golfweek. Rubinson, who is the son of TCU's head soccer coach and former Horned Frog soccer player Dave Rubinson, has yet to shoot a round over par this season.
Doeden Loadin' Up
After advancing to the round of 32 of the U.S. Amateur match play, Andy Doeden's hot streak has continued into the fall season. He has finished in the top 20 in all three fall tournaments, twice landing among the top 10.
Up to Par
Through three tournaments (nine rounds), the TCU Horned Frogs have shot just two 18-hole rounds over par as a team, with one round being just one-over. The Frogs average round as a team is 283.88, which equates to 70.97 per player.
Back in the Swing
After redshirting his freshman season, former Texas 5A state champion J.J. Killeen has been impressive, finishing with back-to-back top 20 placings (T-15th at Red River, T-18th at Gary Koch).
The Other J.J.
Former TCU star J.J. Henry is having a stellar season on the pro tour. The three-time All-American (1996, 97, 98) is currently 54th on the PGA Tour money list.
Star Freshman to Redshirt
According to head coach Bill Montigel, TCU's top freshman, Joe Starzec, who hails from Branford, Conn., has elected to redshirt this season.
